The quest for naturality or the lack of it

Having been in different communities, the very definition of humanity ended up being rather confusing to me. Surprisingly when it comes to judging and forming an opinion on an issue, the more I learn the harder it gets to form an opinion. But when I think about it, stupid people often tend to have strong opinions on big issues. Now that is a rather bold statement to make, but I believe that a lot of people who tried to have a logical argument with a few people can relate to it.

I don't want to 'the joker', but he does have a point or two about humanity. The inconsistencies we deal with, some subtle and some evident, are right there and it is foolish not to acknowledge them. The idea of open-mindedness is a myth, one cannot be okay with every belief - there are clearly the ones you like and ones you don't. And this pretentious open-minded nature that I observe is repelling, it's like reading a story full of contradictions. Some aspects act like a big red button for these open-minded people.

Ofcourse, any discussion these days has to include homosexuality, how else are we going to push those red buttons. A recent discussion with a friend of mine popped out the idea of insignificance in gay pride. Apparently Gays - being not natural -  is hard to explain to a 3-year old kid and confuse him. How is teaching kids about love between a man and woman, eventually making them hetero sexual acceptable. But teaching about love between a man and man is confusing them. So a kid is given freedom in non-significant issues but not in the significant ones.

Another critical thought comes with some forms of feminism and their mindset. Let us talk about women being oppressed and taking a toll on fashion industry. You see documentaries, posters and sessions where they discuss the evil-demands of the show biz, putting a hard life to these zero-sized models. Well not-eating isn't that painful - try getting a 6-pack. Why aren't they dealing with guys; making a 6-pack is lot harder than to not eat and stay slim. They have to go through a lot of pain and suffering to get there. How is that not portrayed as an evil of the industry. A glamour industry is not much different from sports, where both use their physical attributes to entertain others. How is one objectifying a person and the other not so much!

These questions when thought with clear mind never give out answers. May be naturalism is indeed over-rated - If we are natural, sexual comments should sound as sweet as bird chirps and other animal mating sounds . May be we are confusing the ideas or may be not.

Travelling backwards in Time

' Silence I kill u' [1] - I hear an orotund voice, just as i look at the silence sign at Mont St Michel, entering the Abbey on the hill in the waters of Atlantic ocean connected to the land only by one access road. I was startled more by the similarity in pop culture, irrespective of which part of the world one is from, than the actual scenic beauty of waters stretching upto horizon from a vantage point. So far this is the most beautiful place I have seen after my departure from India, a famous Telugu poet wrote 'Desam ante matti kadoi manushuloi'[2]. I still remember in every minute detail, kissing my friend Good Bye, seeing tears roll around the corner of my Dad's Eyes, excitement in one side of my heart and sadness of leaving in the other. Yet, amidst all this, Enrique was the one who constantly sang 'I miss You' on my Ipod.

One week at Paris - all the tourist attractions are touched, the significant ones like Shakespeare and Company, the best Falafel in Paris , 'Despicable Me' and 'Kaboom' - the less important stuff like Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees, Louvre etc. 'Despicable Me' brought the kid out of me, but the major part of that owes to my friend[3] who I met after more than one year. All the time in Paris, just brought back memories - not from Paris, never did I feel that I am visiting a new place all because of the two idiots[4]. Same old ways of hanging out, same old Bakchodi, same old KFC with new currency and at a new place - Only one expression pops into my mind 'Fucking Awesome !!'.

One can find several reasons to not enjoy my course, naming a few, long lecture hours - demanding assignments and stuff. But I have one reason to love it, the group. I made new friends from different countries each impressive than the other in unique ways. I felt both happy and sad about the Induction period, if not for it I could have never met the awesome people who left for Granada - sad only because I miss them now. The people at St Etienne are more serious, particularly the guys - we often involve in intellectually elite discussions - mostly about the industries unaffected by the Economic Crisis and their diversity across the Globe [read it Pornography]. I am astonished by the energy levels of the pretty young ladies in my class, they usually are the active participants in any gathering. After all this there is only one thing I could say, My luck always plays on my side.

[title] Many may not find it apt - but there is a pun - I traveled from a time zone of +5:30 to +1, and my thoughts traveled back.

[1] It was MariaLena, from Jeff Dunham's puppet - ahmed.
[2] literally translated to 'a country isn't it's soil, it is the people'
[3] The great Halwai, very less known as Ankit Jain
[4] Rakshit and Meet, nobody else could be more apt for that.

Nice meeting you Mr.Khan

Discrimination is found in every wake of one's life. Most of the discriminated appease themselves continue to live with it; some rise against and bring about some change; But recently I came to learn about a person, who made a movie about it and screened it to the discriminated. How foolish !! If one wants a change at the happening end- why show it to the receiving end. His name is Khan and He is a not a terrorist - So What..

I like a modification in a 1966 movie

How many times have I already watched this movie! I certainly know it is the music of Ennio Morricone. The plot, i felt, needs a modification. I didn't think abt this when i watched this the first time, there wasnt enuf time - mostly i used it for admiration. Now I think about it. The movie is The good, the bad and the ugly.

The good and The Ugly were forced to team up by fate till the end. Now something that is bad, is The Bad. He instead of being a general or captain, should have been co-POW. The plot should go something like this, fate should team up these three together. And I didnt like The Bad dying either. There should have been 6 bags, and each leaving with 2 bags. I did like the way The Ugly is left, reminding me of the motif in the movie, which i almost forgot. I am no story writer, But i do have a good perception.

Should I answer chronologically or alphabetically

"To SHERLOCK HOLMES she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but admirably balanced mind. He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed himself in a false position...[1]" Dr. Watson Speaking about a fictional character probably more famous and heroic than James Bond, but filmed much less often. A British Director, An American actor, A German Music Composer, A French Director of Photography made a movie based on an English Fictional Character. The idea of Cocktails crept into movies, earlier Greek Hero Achilles and Tojan Hero Hector used to have conversations in English with an American Accent[2]. Now it is different, Colonel Hans Landa makes a humble request in French to begin a conversation in English[3]. Synergy is the key to the success of today's movies.
An ideal for atleast half of my childhood and my complete teenage, sherlock holmes and his methods always fascinated me. The older Sherlock Holmes on the screen [4] never matched to the one in the back of my head. To my surprise, Guy Ritchie did a commendable attempt. Though many of the memorable quotes in the movie took their place from Arthur Conan Doyle's literature, it is no wonder he is listed among the writers.
Rocky Road to Dublin by The Dubliners[5] is still ringing in my ears, I don't understand the significance of the song. The crazy experiments, the between-jobs phase, the reasoning - I have no words to describe the sheer pleasure of staring at the screen with highly receptive ears enjoying their way through the compositions of Hans Zimmer. There are no specific parts I would like to comment, the entire movie is awesome.
